SEND Teaching Assistant – ASC, PMLD, SEMH, Complex Needs

Elementa Support Services is delighted to partner with a well-respected Academy-SEND in Wallington, London, to recruit a dedicated Contract SEND Teaching Assistant. About the Role
This contract position commences in December and will continue on an ongoing basis until further notice, offering continuity and consistency for both the successful candidate and the students they support. The role is integral to the dedicated team within an organisation that values high standards of care and innovative learning strategies. Working within a collaborative environment, you will provide vital support to pupils with ASC, PMLD, SEMH, and other complex needs, ensuring each learner’s individual needs are met with patience, understanding, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing tailored support to pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties and associated complex needs
- Implementing personalised programmes in line with individual education plans (IEPs)
- Supporting students to access the curriculum and participate fully in learning activities
- Monitoring and recording student progress, ensuring high standards of care and learning support
- Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create a nurturing learning environment
What We Are Looking For
- MAPA (or similar Team Teach, Pro-act skip or Breakaway) trained
- Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant or similar role supporting children with PMLD
- Knowledge of ASC, SEMH, and other complex needs
- Ability to adapt to the needs of individual learners and work effectively as part of a team
- Strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Relevant qualifications or training in special educational needs (desired but not essential)
