Elementa are recruiting for an experienced and (ideally specialist) qualified Maths Teacher considering the opportunity to join and build a brand new colleague team at this brand new independent special school (opened in September 2021) which is based between East Birmingham & Coventry. The school is specific to students that have ASD/ASC, anxiety and high levels of SEMH needs for children aged 11-19. From September '22 the school are recruiting for staff to join their team and anticipate a high demand for student placements.
Applicants will be required to demonstrate good previous experience and/or qualifications relating to working with SEND learners with ASD/ASC and anxiety who display challenging behaviour and need additional support for SEMH. As a person you'll be able to show resilience, tenacity, empathy and patience when working with the learners.
At this school, all of the students have EHCPs. Whilst the students need additional support, there remains a strong focus on standards of teaching & learning and student progression, with the majority of students expected to sit GCSE exams (AQA & OCN syllabus.) The schools main subject focus is on English, Maths ICT & Science. The school has capacity for x20 students and currently has x13 on roll.
Essential: The school is based in a remote setting not on any public transport network. It's essential that you have your own transport or are reliably able to get to the school site in order to be considered for this role.
Elementa will be managing all applicants and screening their suitability for the school. This is a permanent vacancy however it's highly likely that the school will engage the successful candidate on trial contract through Elementa (12 week / 60 day contract, paid to scale from the outset) to assess suitability and confirm the intention of engagement on permanent contract thereafter. Elementa are not a supply agency, we are a schools services & recruiting partner to schools. We will manage the candidate vetting & compliance and process your payroll on behalf of the school whilst on trial contract. Therefore applicants being considered for the role after pre-screening will be required to complete the registration process for Elementa. This includes full vetting & background checks and application for an Enhanced DBS Disclosure (which may be chargeable at £52) unless you have a current DBS on the update service.
If you have the relevant skills and experience necessary for this role then please apply with your full up to date CV. All applicants will be promptly responded to.
