Our client is an established education provider for children that have significant special education needs, predominantly in MLD & SLD. Often the children can display extreme challenging behaviors as a result of their conditions and all applicants should be aware that often this is a frequent part of the job.
The school enjoys a beautiful setting in acres of woodland and period buildings. There is a high (support) staff:learner ratio; at least 1:1, usually 2:1 to support the class teacher. Class sizes are usually 7 students as an absolute maximum. Much of the education is outdoors, whatever the weather so applicants should be physically able to undertake outdoor and physical activities.
As an employer, the school has an excellent reputation with many staff staying for many many years at the school. There are also genuine opportunities to progress within the organisation with current members of the SLT having started as LSAs at the school. This is truly a friendly and rewarding place to work, with highly positive outcomes for the students.
Applications are invited from qualified teachers with either QTS or QTLS that have significant experience in the MLD & SLD areas. There is a certain amount of flexibility with the age group of the students to work with so please specify your preference / flexibility in relation to this. Within your experience you should be fully accustomed to managing challenging behaviours. Previous Team Teach training or using other positive behaviour strategies would be an advantage in being considered for this job opportunity. For a successful applicant, free Team Teach training would be offered.
Due to the somewhat remote nature of the school site, it’s beneficial that applicants have their own transport, although this is not an absolute necessity.
The school is recruiting for someone to join the team on a permanent basis and is open to the approach in engaging the successful applicant. This could be via Elementa trial contract (12 weeks / 60 days trial) or directly on a permanent contract from the outset.
As Elementa is the recruiting partner all applicants still being considered for the role after pre-screening will be required to complete the registration process for both Elementa & the school. This includes full vetting & background checks and application for an Enhanced DBS Disclosure unless you have a current DBS on the update service. A clear DBS certificate is highly desirable however a positive DBS certificate is not an absolute barrier to being considered.
All applicants will be promptly responded to.
