SEND Outreach Teacher (ref 91)

Elementa are recruiting for an SEND Outreach Mentor to deliver on & off curriculum based learning on an outreach basis. The role will involve some responsibility for planning lessons, some teaching responsibilities however no leadership responsibilities. The role will be based both on & off-site. Normal working hours are 830am – 330pm but there will likely require / be room for some flexibility with these hours.
Our client is a very successful Alternative Provision that provide services for pupils in the primary phase. The pupils display challenging behaviour and have SEND relating mostly to SEMH. Thanks to the success of the setting they have seen increased Local Authority referrals. Therefore, from September, the provision will be offering an outreach service. This outreach service will be due to the limited physical capacity to offer every child referred a space at the provision site.
This is a privately run Alternative Provision with a highly personable and child-centered approach to education. There are both classroom based and outdoor activities education for all students. The setting have good facilities available including outdoor space, a swimming pool, animals and local amenities which they make full use of. The setting is poised for expansion so this is an ideal & exciting time to join the team and support them in their growth.
If you have skills in using the THRIVE approach and previous experience in positive behaviour strategies such as Team Teach then you will be well suited for working with in this setting.

Essential criteria:
- Full UK driving licence with own car and ability/willingness to travel as required (compensated)
- UK QTS
- Sound UK primary phase curriculum knowledge
- Experience in working with children that have SEND & EHCPs
The successfully appointed candidate will complete a 12 week (60 day) trial period and subject to satisfactory completion of this period, will then transfer onto direct, permanent contract with the school.
