Many of the students will have encountered trauma or have anxiety & mental health needs and have an EHCP for at least SEMH and display challenging behaviour. There is also a big demand for LSAs that have additional experience in other areas of SEND. The focus is always on inclusion & reintegration of the students into mainstream schooling, or achieve their full potential whilst out of mainstream education.
The role of the Learning Support Assistant is often both academic & pastoral depending on the individual needs of the child therefore being able to adapt to different scenarios and support needs is a key aspect of a successful Learning Support Assistant.
