School Caretaker - Nailsea

School Caretaker 

Type: Full-time, Temp - Perm 

Hours: Monday to Friday (37 Hours Per Week)

Date: 24/11/2025 

Location: North Somerset

Pay: £98 - £100 per day

Holiday entitlement 23 days plus bank holidays. 

We are seeking to appoint a Caretaker to join our committed and enthusiastic team.  This is a key role within the school, and the successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining a safe, secure, clean, and welcoming environment for all pupils, staff, and visitors. This role is within a special educational setting, in which there are an estimated 137 pupils, all with different special educational needs. 

Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure the school premises and grounds are safe, well-maintained, and fit for purpose.
• Carry out a range of site duties including minor repairs, general maintenance, and grounds upkeep.
• Ensure all routine Health & Safety checks and inspections are completed and recorded in a timely manner.
• Act as the responsible person for asbestos and legionella compliance.
• Be available for emergency call-outs, ideally within 30 minutes travel time to the school.

The ideal candidate will:
• Have a good range of practical DIY and site maintenance skills.
• Be highly organised, proactive and take pride in their work.
• Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with external contractors and school staff.
• Demonstrate a clear understanding of site safety, safeguarding, and compliance responsibilities.
• Be flexible and committed to the ethos and values of Ravenswood School.
