Elementa are supporting this PRU to appoint an experienced PRU teacher to work with secondary aged children, ages 10-16. The role will involve working with small groups of students, delivering their education and supporting them through issues they face in their personal lives.
This is a well run PRU with long-serving staff that offer stability and vital support for the learners. This post is to cover for maternity leave that is anticipated to run at least until 20th December 2024 with a possible extension / permanent job opportunity, pending the permanent post-holdres return to work.
The particular group of students aren't following GCSE qualifications but are following vocational courses for food technology / cookery. If you are a (general) PRU Teacher, a food technology teacher, a teacher with previous experience as a chef perhaps or are a teacher with a keen culinary interest and desire to work in this type of setting then we'd love to hear from you.
Essential criteria:
- previous experience of working with young people that display challenging behaviour
- experience in leading education for groups of children
- available full time for the full contract dates
The ideal candidate for this role will be a qualified PRU teacher with UK QTS. The school are however open to considering someone with significant experience in leading/delivering education provided you also have the ability to confidently deliver cookery as part of the role.
Naturally, working at a specialist setting for SEMH will involve working with the more challenging learners so resilience, a sense of humour, empathy and the desire to motivate learners whatever their background or ability will be key to being successful in this role.
As a person, the right applicant will be:
- experienced at working with learners that frequently display challenging behaviour
- resilient, positive natured and maintain composure when working in challenging situations
- be committed, empathetic and passionate about providing the best opportunity for the learners
- have a strong work ethic with a professional approach
