Level 3 Nursery Assistant - Weston-Super-Mare

Level 3 Nursery Assistant

Type: Temporary (Possible Permanent Contract)

Hours: 12.00 - 15.30 Weds, Thurs & Fri

Dates: September 2026

Location: Weston-super-Mare

Pay: £12.21 - £13.70 per hour

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Level 3 Nursery Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Weston-super-Mare. This is a fantastic opportunity to support children during the earliest stages of their development, helping to provide a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment where they can learn, grow, and flourish.

Working within the school's Nursery, you will support the Nursery Teacher and Early Years team in delivering high-quality learning experiences that promote children's development through play, exploration, and structured activities. You will help create a warm and engaging environment where every child feels valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential.

You will play a key role in supporting children's development across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), including communication and language, physical development, personal, social and emotional development, literacy, mathematics, and understanding the world. You will encourage children's curiosity, independence, confidence, and social skills through meaningful interactions and engaging activities.

Working collaboratively with the Nursery Teacher, EYFS Lead, SENDCo, parents, and other professionals, you will contribute to planning activities, observing children's progress, and ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive.

This is a rewarding opportunity to join a friendly and supportive school that is committed to providing exceptional early years education and giving every child the very best start to their learning journey.

The school is seeking a committed and enthusiastic individual who:

  • Holds a Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education and Childcare (or an equivalent full and relevant qualification).
  • Has experience working within a nursery or Early Years setting.
  • Has a strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Holds GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Has a caring, patient, and nurturing approach to supporting young children.
  • Can build positive and trusting relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Is confident supporting children's learning through play and child-led activities.
  • Works well as part of a team while using their own initiative when required.
  • Is adaptable, enthusiastic, and committed to supporting children's development.
  • Understands the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Nursery Teacher and Early Years team in delivering engaging and stimulating learning experiences.
  • Provide a safe, caring, and inclusive environment where children can learn through play.
  • Support children's development across all areas of the EYFS curriculum.
  • Observe, monitor, and record children's progress, contributing to learning journals and assessments where required.
  • Encourage children's communication, language, social skills, confidence, and independence.
  • Assist with planning and preparing age-appropriate activities and learning resources.
  • Support children with personal care, hygiene routines, and mealtimes where required.
  • Help maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming nursery environment.
  • Build positive relationships with parents and carers, contributing to effective communication regarding children's progress and wellbeing.
  • Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and nursery policies are followed at all times.

This role is ideal for a passionate Early Years practitioner who enjoys creating engaging learning experiences and supporting young children to develop the confidence, curiosity, and skills that provide the foundation for lifelong learning. If you hold a Level 3 Early Years qualification and are committed to giving every child the very best start, we would love to hear from you.
