Learning Support Mentor - Apprenticeship

Type: Temp-to-perm
Hours: 9:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, term-time only
Salary: £15.38 during trial (£18,000 pa perm equivalent)
Are you passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives? We are looking for a caring, motivated Apprentice Learning Support Mentor to join our alternative provision, supporting children and young people with additional needs.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone aged 16+ who is interested in a long-term career supporting children and is ready to commit to a 4-year apprenticeship programme, combining hands-on experience with professional training.
About the role
As an Apprentice Learning Support Mentor, you will:

Support children with additional needs in a small, nurturing alternative provision setting

Help pupils engage with learning, develop confidence, and build positive relationships

Work closely with experienced mentors, and senior staff

Learn practical strategies to support behaviour, communication, and emotional wellbeing

Gain a nationally recognised qualification while earning and learning
This role would suit someone who:

Is aged 16 or over

Has GCSEs at Grade C / 4 or above (or is working towards them – desirable but not essential)

Is committed to a 4-year apprenticeship and long-term development

Is kind, patient, reliable, and eager to learn

Is interested in a future career supporting children or young people
You might be especially suited if you:

Help or volunteer at youth groups (e.g. Cubs, Brownies, Scouts, Guides)

Have completed work experience in a school or childcare setting

Have siblings or family members with additional needs

Are considering careers in education, youth work, psychology, SEND, or social care

Our approach is to offer a bespoke and relevant learning program for each learner. Integration into standardised education opportunities and social integration is everything we do. No child should have their future negatively affected or be excluded in their later life due to the lack of access or support for education opportunities that are appropriate to their abilities & strengths.
