KS3 Teacher - Dorking

KS3 Teacher

Hours - Full time

Location - Dorking Surrey

Pay - £169.62 - £230.96

Type: Temporary (possible permanent)

Start: ASAP

Elementa is working in partnership with a specialist SEND education provider in Dorking, Surrey, supporting children and young people who have experienced trauma and adverse childhood experiences. All students have an EHCP, primarily relating to SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, and many may present with challenging behaviour.

The school takes a holistic, therapeutic and creative approach to education, with a strong focus on helping pupils re-engage with learning, build confidence, and develop the life skills needed to achieve their full potential. The aim is to support students either back into mainstream education or towards positive long-term outcomes beyond school.

The leadership team has created a positive, nurturing and progressive environment for both students and staff. Clear expectations, consistency and relationship-based practice are central to the school’s ethos, alongside a genuine commitment to staff wellbeing and professional development.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a positive, resilient and calm approach
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed practice
  • Be confident working with vulnerable learners with SEMH needs
  • Be able to set and maintain clear boundaries and routines
  • Uphold the school’s values, expectations and behaviour policies
  • Be adaptable, reflective and committed to inclusive education

The Role

The successful candidate will teach Maths and English to KS2 and lower KS3 pupils on a 1:1, 2:1 or small-group basis. Students require a personalised and flexible approach to learning, with teaching tailored to meet a range of academic, emotional and social needs.

As a teacher, responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons
  • Assessing and recording student progress
  • Supporting students’ emotional regulation and engagement in learning
  • Producing reports and contributing to EHCP reviews where required
  • Working collaboratively with pastoral and therapeutic staff
  • Building positive and consistent relationships with students

Experience with positive behaviour support strategies, de-escalation techniques, or Team Teach training would be advantageous. Full Team Teach training can be provided for the successful applicant.
