Elementa Support Services is working in partnership with a highly regarded Welsh-medium secondary school in Cardiff to recruit enthusiastic and committed Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Teaching Assistants. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a specialist and experienced team dedicated to supporting pupils in their learning and helping them develop the essential skills they need to thrive both academically and personally.

The successful candidate will work closely with pupils on a one-to-one basis, in small intervention groups, and within the classroom, providing targeted support to help overcome barriers to learning and build confidence, resilience, and independence.

This role would suit individuals with a genuine desire to work with young people, whether you are an experienced Teaching Assistant or someone looking to develop a long-term career in education.


About the Role

As an ALN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support pupils with additional learning needs both in and out of the classroom
• Deliver targeted interventions to help develop literacy, numeracy, communication, and wider learning skills
• Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual pupil needs
• Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to implement effective learning strategies
• Build positive and trusting relationships that encourage pupil engagement, confidence, and progress
• Support pupils who may become frustrated or disengaged with learning, helping them persevere and succeed
• Contribute to creating a nurturing, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
• Assist with monitoring pupil progress and celebrating achievements
• Take an active role in the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities and enrichment opportunities


The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• A Level 4 qualification (or higher) in Education, Childcare, Youth Work, Psychology, Health & Social Care, or a related field
• A passion for working with children and young people
• Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting pupils facing challenges in their education
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to motivate, encourage, and inspire young people to achieve their potential
• A positive and proactive attitude towards learning and development
• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively within a specialist support team
• Experience working with children, young people, or individuals with additional needs (desirable but not essential)
• A commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of young people
