We are recruiting for an English Teacher for one of our clients who provide education for learners that have SEND relating to SEMH. This is a particularly positive environment to work in; the organisation has recently achieved school status, transforming their offering from a caring mentoring & tutoring service. this organisation has long been held in high esteem. The senior management of the trust comprises a diverse & effective mix of education leaders and highly experienced professionals who are completely approachable and have created a vision & ethos wholly focused on wellbeing and creating opportunity for their learners; not purely a financial outlook. This learning environment is set in a period building, surrounded by stunning countryside & views. The learning environment is well adapted for learners and with a proven track record of achievement, learners flourish in this environment.
This job role is to cover for an unfilled vacancy. Fortunately, all of the schemes of work are in place and planning for the immediate future is also available. The successful applicants will be delivering the AQA English curriculum. The school has around x40 students and class sizes have a maximum of x3 learners at any one time, usually supported by x2 LSAs. Planning & marking will be required as part of this role. The successful applicant will very much be considered for permanent appointment.
To make this role particularly attractive, there is flexibility with what hours the teacher will be required to be on site. The School day is 8:45am - 4:30pm however the teaching hours are 10:00am - 2:45pm; the successful applicant would be required on site for the teaching hours and required to stay until 4:30pm on Wednesday afternoons for staff CPD. Apart from that there is flexibility provided that the work is completed to the desired standard.
This post is open to teachers with all levels of experience. A key consideration will be the applicants' ability to engage learners and motivate them to achieve their best. Many learners will struggle to find purpose so an applicant with a positive and inspiring outlook would enjoy success in this role.
Due to the somewhat remote nature of the school site, it’s beneficial that applicants have their own transport, although this is not an absolute necessity.
Pending the permanent postholders' return to work the school may need to recruit for someone to join the team on a permanent basis and the incumbent post-holder would be eligible to be considered for the permanent opportunity. This could be via Elementa trial contract (12 weeks / 60 days trial) or directly on a permanent contract from the outset.
As Elementa is the recruiting partner all applicants still being considered for the role after pre-screening will be required to complete the registration process for both Elementa & the school. This includes full vetting & background checks and application for an Enhanced DBS Disclosure unless you have a current DBS on the update service. A clear DBS certificate is highly desirable however a positive DBS certificate is not an absolute barrier to being considered.
All applicants will be promptly responded to.
