School Clerical Assistant

Location: Worlebury, Weston Super Mare

Type: Contract (and/or temp-to-perm)

Hours: Full time

Pay: TBC (min £12.83 per hour during trial)

Start: September 2025

This role is to work as a School Administrator & Receptionist during school term times only. The successful person will have previous admin skills & experience to work in this busy and demanding education setting. 

The job role will involve:

  • Greeting & handling access for learners, staff & visitors to the site
  • Handling sensitive data
  • processing forms & paperwork from staff colleagues & external organisations
  • Managing appointments on behalf of colleagues as necessary
  • Answering phone & email enquiries
  • General admin duties
  • Other ad-hoc duties

The successful applicant will have professional & personal qualities such as:

  • Articulate, polite & approachable
  • Good numeracy & literacy skills
  • Sound IT skills (Microsoft Office applications)
  • Good Team working skills
  • Willingness to go the extra mile

Additional desirable skills:

  • knowledge / experience of SIMS
  • knowledge / experience of CPOMS

This setting is an Alternative Provision for learners that are in Key Stage 4. Learners have a positive relationship with staff who work hard to ensure that the young people have access to education that suits their needs and abilities. Often the learners haven't experienced the same learning path as students in mainstream schools and as a result their behaviour can be affected.

This assignment is to start ASAP and the successfully appointed applicant can also be considered for the permanent opportunity. This is a temp-to-perm contract which entails a 12-week (60 day) trial and the role would become permanent on successful completion of that trial period.

Elementa is the recruiting partner therefore applicants being considered for the role after pre-screening will be required to complete the registration process for Elementa. This is a permanent vacancy and the employer will likely engage the successful candidate on trial contract through Elementa (12 week / 60 day contract, paid to scale from the outset) to assess suitability and confirm the intention of engagement on permanent contract thereafter. Elementa are not a supply agency, we are a schools services & recruiting partner to schools. We will manage the candidate vetting & compliance and process your payroll on behalf of the school whilst on trial contract. Therefore applicants being considered for the role after pre-screening will be required to complete the registration process for Elementa. This includes full vetting & background checks and application for an Enhanced DBS Disclosure (which may be chargeable at £62.70) unless you have a current DBS on the update service.
