This role is an urgent requirement for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a child that has support needs for SEMH which affects their behaviour. Currently the child is only working in school for the mornings, pending the success of the appointed person, this may increase to full time if the child is able to attend school on a full time basis. The role however remains flexible for the right person. The child is in Year 3 and needs an experienced, patient & empathetic person to support his learning. You will be working with an additional LSA already in class.
The school is now a well-established and popular primary school with a good track record of positive outcomes for their pupils. They are consistently recognised & praised for the level of support and inclusivity they offer for all pupils attending their school. They are very active with parent & carer engagement and have a supportive board of governors. Overall this is a welcoming, supportive and rewarding place to work.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate good, recent experience of having supported children with behavioural issues. A positive approach is key to supporting the child in making progression. As such, previous experience or training in having used positive behaviour strategies such as Team Teach would be beneficial. Formal learning support qualifications are not absolutely necessary provided good previous experience is evident. If you are appointed for the post and require Team Teach training you will be offered this training free of charge.
The contract would start on a (pro-rata) 12 week (60 day) trial basis via Elementa. After this period, if successful the applicant will transfer onto permanent contract, directly employed by the school.
Elementa are the recruiting partner for this post. All applicants will be pre-screened for this post. The successful applicant will be required to go through formal vetting & compliance clearance which will include Enhanced DBS Disclosure and satisfactory referencing. Additional checks may be required when transferring to school contract.
