This role is an urgent requirement for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a child that has experience trauma in their life. The child has been making good progress in processing the trauma and needs ongoing support to continue their progression. The child is in Year 1 and working in a mixed Reception / Year 1 class. There are x16 children in the class with an additional LSA already in class.
The school is now a well-established and popular primary school with a good track record of positive outcomes for their pupils. They are part of a very successful and progressive academy learning trust who offer excellent opportunities. The school were a new build in the last 10 years and through graduated year group intake, are now at full capacity; EYFS - Year 6. They actively engage with parents & carers and have a supportive board of governors & PFSA. Overall this is a welcoming, supportive and rewarding place to work.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate good, recent experience of having supported children through trauma or other challenging life events. A positive approach is key to supporting the child in making progression. As such, previous experience or training in having used positive behaviour strategies such as Team Teach would be beneficial. Formal learning support qualifications are not absolutely necessary provided good previous experience is evident. The appointed applicant would be offered Team Teach training free of charge if necessary.
The contract would start on a 12 week (60 day) trial basis via Elementa. After this period, if successful the applicant will transfer onto permanent contract, directly employed by the school.
